His Excellency Prof. Philip M. Kutima, Deputy Governor of Kakamega County
Prof Philip Kutima is a Kenyan educator and scientist serving as the Deputy Governor for Kakamega County. He was elected as Deputy Governor in 2013 on a joint ticket with H.E Governor Dr Wycliffe Oparanya.
In 2017, he was again picked as the Deputy Governor to serve for the second term.
He is also chairman, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Kakamega County.
Prof Kutima was born at Muyundi, Butali in Malava Constituency, Kakamega County on 24th November, 1956. He attended Chebwai Primary School, Musingu High School and Friends School Kamusinga.
He proceeded for his Bachelors of Science at Carthage College (USA), Master of Science at Kansas State University (USA) and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Science at North Carolina State University (USA).
Before joining politics, Prof Kutima served as Deputy Director African Institute for Capacity Development between 2009 to 2013.
He is a professor of Science, previously worked as a senior lecturer at Egerton University and as Associate Professor at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
